Yvonne Dacey – Wallyvonne’s Greyt Nomad Adventure 1

On New Years Day we drove 6 hours or so from Kalbarri to Perth so we could catch a flight home to see our good mate Rikki who wasnt feeling too good.  We had a quick look around Perth before catching our plane and are really looking forward to seeing more of it.   She was still in hospital when we arrived, but Bill was able to take her out each day.  What a woman.  She came home on the Monday and Bill, Kim and Simone took great care of her for the next couple of weeks.  We miss her terribly but have some wonderful memories of our dear friend.  Ive included some pictures of her as well.  Wally used to work with a guy, Geoff Hyde, who lived in Kinglake.  When we arrived back in Kalbarri on 30 January, the matting outside our caravan had gone, obviously someone thought it should be theirs.  Replacement cost, $225.  Wally had to get out of the boat to give us a bit of a push when we got stuck, but when we got back to the car, the car keys were missing.  The RAC came to open up the car so we could get the caravan keys and Wally went back to the van to get the spare keys.  Thats $545 spent because of our carelessness.  We had already spent heaps on new glasses and the trip back to Melbourne, so weve gone through heaps of $$$$ lately.  Normally, you can see the Murchison River through this window but at the moment it has dried up.  I have never felt so hot.  We only stayed at Natures Window for a couple of minutes, as it was difficult standing on the rocks because of the radiant heat coming of them. After Kalbarri, we went to Geraldton, which is a really great place and then moved on to Jurien Bay, which is a lovely little seaside town. The highlights here were the Pinnacles and the beautiful beach.  They have sheep and a range of different crops and it was good to do something quite different to what wed been doing.  Prior to our farmstay we went to the New Norcia Monastery which was also something a bit different.  There are only 7 monks there now.Bye for now and please leave us a message below if you’ve had a look at this blog (don’t forget to put your name on it if you do)

Great to hear from my travelling mates – photos are terrific. Fremantle is a lovely place – back in civilisation. We are all well here. Yes the bushfires are terrible – know people who have been affected. Hard to believe that it is five weeks since Rikki\’s passing – miss her so much. Going out on our usual Wednesday night dinners – Bill is still joining us which is great. Take care. Love Helen

Hi Yvonne and Wally
Happy New Year to you both. By the look of the photos you are still enjoying our wonderful country and have been to so many beautiful places – enjoy. We had a busy Christmas and New Year and welcomed our new little English/Australian Grandson on 11th January 2009 so are enjoying spending time with my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter as well but nothing as exciting as what you have been doing. Don\’t forget if you have time whilst in Melbourne to give us a call and maybe we could catch up for dinner or a drink if time permits.
Love the E/mails and photos-thank you so much for keeping us updated.

Hi Yvonne and Wally, thanks for the update. I\’m still trying to drive this website, we missed seeing your last update and haven\’t been able to retrieve it, but i gather you\’ve been up the coast all this time. Just as well you dragged Wally away from temptation at Nimbin Yvonne, otherwise we may not have heard from you for months!!
Managed to survive turning the big 60 and recently caught up with the usual crew over dinner which was nice. Had a good day down at Rosebud prior to that for Dawn\’s b/day, again with the usual suspects plus family and more. We\’ve been very busy for the last few months preparing Don Valley for the market and it was finally listed at the end of April – some visits but no offers as yet. Meantime Lambie copped a nasty infection and sadly had to be put down. She has now been replaced with SellyBelly a year old ewe from a Childrens travelling farm. Jan Juc has settled and is now ours, but on lease to the previous owner until end Aug. Not a great time to have to cash in the Super but should be OK in the long run.
Robyn has about had enough of school and is now looking very positively at a change next year.
Bye for now, safe travelling, regards David and Robyn

Hi Wally and Yvonne Great to hear that you are having a beaut time. We are still in Brisbane, the caravan is having some TLC and necessary additions as we mentioned. Not sure when we will get it back. They did mention 2-4 weeks, only 1 week gone. By the way the weather fined up after you left Ballina. There was another couple in the park who did the same thing. They went to Tenterfield to get away from the weather.Keep on keeping on>LOL Bob & Carol

G\’day Yvonne and wally This is the Pearts in Pt Lonsdale. I havent seen your site for a while, I think I was doing something wrong trying to log in, any way I\’m in. you are looking good, I know youve been gone for a while but those kids in the pics are they yours, have you had them along the way. Are you coming back with a family,ha ha .We went to a 50th on sat night, a group of us went as gilligans island, was a funny night! The herricks are all alright we went there today for a quick visit.
Mum and christine went shopping at highpoint the other day, mum went of somewhere and christine minded her pusher trolley, you could have imagined her surprise when mum walked towards her pushing a pram with a baby in it. Christine said \”what the bloody hell are you doing with that\”, and mum said \”oh god what have I done I thought it was my pusher\”. Christine was expecting to hear some mother screamming \”where is my baby\”, but they quickly found her and and did some explaining. Thank God! She is a bloody wacker sometimes. fair dinkum!

Hi Guys,

For all the times we drove through Mogo to visit them, we never stopped in at the zoo!! what a waste, done it by proxy now! Thanks for the updates, great to hear from you .
